As part of its assessment activity in the area of Energy Distribution, Storage, and Infrastructure, the Global Climate and Energy Project (GCEP) organized a two-day workshop on Advanced Electricity Infrastructure that was held at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center on the Stanford campus on November 1-2, 2007.

Technical experts in a broad range of topic areas assembled and discussed research ideas in advanced transmission, power systems control and analysis, distributed generation, and storage. The objective of the workshop was to identify innovative, high-risk research opportunities that complement current investigations with the potential to significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the electricity grid in the next 10 to 50 years.
