Proposal Checklist printer friendly format
Proposals from appropriate institutions submitted to GCEP must meet the following criteria:
  • Excellent fundamental science and/or engineering
  • Step-out or game-changing potential to offer new options for reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Demonstration of a pathway to a device, theory or application which could substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the long term
  • Potential for application at significant scale
  • Reasonable level of funding
Proposals of the type below will not be funded by GCEP:
  • An incremental continuation of a longstanding research effort, even one that represents excellent science
  • Technology with a limited scope of applicability or with no realistic pathway to deployment
  • Enabling tools (e.g., instrumentation) that do not in themselves represent an advance along the pathway to an energy technology with reduced greenhouse gas emissions
