Paolo Bosshard
Energy Assessment Analyst
Dr. Paolo Bosshard joined Stanford University’s Global Climate and Energy Project (GCEP) as an Energy Assessment Analyst in March 2004. Prior to this, he received his M.S. in physics in 1997 and his Ph.D. in 2003 from the Center of Research in Plasma Physics (CRPP) of the Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. His research at the EPFL focused on the spectroscopic study of hot, magnetically-confined plasma ions, for which he built a Charge eXchange Recombination Spectroscopy (CXRS) diagnostic system that he operated on the TCV Tokamak. At Stanford University he is performing assessments in various technical areas related to energy production and carbon mitigation, and has contributed to expanding the GCEP research portfolio in areas such as solar energy (e.g. nanostructured photovoltaics and photoelectrochemical production of chemical fuels), hydrogen storage and utilization, nuclear energy, and energy storage technologies for the electric grid.
